Bio Growing up along the coast of California and then moving to the coast of Georgia at a young age allowed me to have a broad understanding of diversity and natural beauty inherent in our country. Drawing and portraiture were rooted in my family, so I was introduced to sketching at a young age. As a teenager I went from drawing people to drawing clothing, and that eventually led me to attend The Savannah College of Art and Design. The teachings there instilled in me a strong foundation for all things fine art related. After two years of study I transferred to The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to obtain a BFA in Fashion Design. Two of the four years were spent in Florence, Italy studying at Polimoda. It was a tremendous opportunity to be a part of fashion in both New York and Florence, and it continues to influence how I see people and what they wear. Upon graduation, I made my way west to Santa Barbara, and began a career in apparel design starting with Deckers Outdoor Corporation. While in Santa Barbara I met my husband and together we continue to enjoy many outdoor activities. In 1999 I began work for Patagonia out of Ventura, California, which was an amazing experience working for an apparel company that maintained environmental practices. By 2004 I started a consulting business in the apparel industry. Feeling a need to use paint on canvas, I was introduced to plein air painting in 2006. I reconnected with my love of fine art by attending various workshops with artists and classes at The LA Academy of Figurative Arts. We lived for 8 months in Missoula, Montana in 2015, and I was able to explore some beautiful terrain for painting. The greater Los Angeles area is where I call home, and I am fortunate to be surrounded by artists that I admire and who continue to inspire me. I find inspiration in all things; landscape, still life, portrait, figure, animals, and travel.
